Freddy Weds!
Mrs. Camilla Jones Fitzgerald announced the news at her lawn party yesterday
afternoon: her eldest son, Frederick Mahan Fitzgerald - better known to
Arkhamites as Freddy Fitzgerald - married Miss Felica Canhoto of Rio de
Janeiro in a private ceremony on March 11, 1898.
The new Mrs. Fitzgerald is the daughter of Brazilian ambassador Pedro
Jorge Canhoto and is known for her lovely singing voice and striking eyes.
Freddy and his lovely bride will not tarry long in Rio before traveling
to Machu Picchu, where Freddy is heading the archaeological dig.
Mrs. Camilla Jones Fitzgerald has stated that her son and daughter-in-law
plan to visit Arkham within the next year.

Party at the Beeches
All Arkham has declared Saturday night's soiree at the Beeches a smashing
success. Mrs. Camilla Fitzgerald gave the ball and supper to celebrate
the homecoming of her eldest son, Freddy Fitzgerald and his lovely bride,
Felica. The prominent archeologist and his wife have recently returned
from South America, where he has been hailed as the "the New World's
Schliemann" for his archeological discoveries.
Mrs. Freddy Fitzgerald, who enjoyed dancing with her husband and many
of the town notables during the party, has been more delicately employed
in the raising of their first child, Francesca Fitzgerald. She displayed
the ebullient one-year-old to several of the ladies during the festivities.
Miss Fitzgerald was universally declared to be a lovely child, with pleasing
manners.

Mrs. Fitzgerald Remembered
Grave were the faces at Mrs. Camilla Fitzgerald's funeral service
this afternoon, and grave are the hearts of all Arkhamites.
What inhuman monster could have perpetuated such despicable violence against
such a much-loved woman? To think that this pillar of society, this rose
of Massachusetts could fall prey to a violent murder! O Lord, deliver
the perpetuator of this atrocity into our hands!
Mrs. Camilla Fitzgerald will long be remembered for her contributions
to Arkham. Her generous donations to Jones College, to the Daughters of
the American Revolution, to the church of St. Peter and Paul and to this
newspaper shall not be forgotten.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by her sons, Frederick of Lima, Peru, and
William, of Arkham, and by her granddaughters Francesca and Emmanuela
Fitzgerald.
She will be missed.

Fran Fitzgerald Spared
Arkham's own Francesca Fitzgerald was one of the fortunate few saved from
the briny deep when the ship Majestic was torpedoed by a U-Boat and sank.
Miss Fitzgerald was returning from visiting friends in London when the
Majestic was struck.
Miss Fitzgerald, who divides her time between her father's archeological
digs in South America and Arkham, has been planning to make her debut
from the Beeches at a ball in the fall. When asked if her recent brush
with death has changed her mind, she laughingly declared that it had not.

Fran's Debut a Success, declares Freddy
All of Arkham polite society turned out at the Beeches last night
to celebrate the debut of Miss Francesca Fitzgerald.
The sixteen-year-old Fran wore a delightful gown of white silk, adored
with seed pearls. Her ebony hair was arranged most becomingly in an elaborate
chignon. Around her neck were the famous Fitzgerald emeralds, on loan
to Miss Fitzgerald for the evening from her mother.
The young lady, who declared to this reporter that she "simply adores
dancing" opened the ball by dancing first with her father, Dr. Frederick
Fitzgerald - and by dancing nearly every dance until sunrise.

Fran Will Not Attend Jones
The Dean of Jones College confirmed today that Fran Fitzgerald would not
be one of the freshman class entering Jones College in the fall.
Miss Fitzgerald, who is the granddaughter of Camilla Jones Fitzgerald,
the college's benefactress, will instead be attending college in Spain,
where she is expected to pursue studies in linguistics and archaeology.
Miss Fitzgerald has expressed interest in following in her father's footsteps.
Dr. William "Fitzie" Fitzgerald, history professor at the college,
did not offer a comment on his niece's decision.

Fran to Wed
Dr. and Mrs. Frederic Fitzgerald have announced the engagement of
their daughter, Francesca Felica Fitzgerald, to Don Miguel Rodriguez de
la Cruz, of Toledo, Spain. The couple met when Miss Fitzgerald was a student
at the university in Toledo.
The wedding will take place in Spain, the Fitzgeralds said, but no date
has yet been set.
Don de la Cruz recently made headlines around the world by breaking the
air-speed record for a flight from London to Toledo, reportedly to attend
a party in honor of Miss Fitzgerald.
From the Arkham Gazette-Journal, November 3, 1923.
Fitzgeralds Slain
Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Fitzgerald are believed to be among those killed
when a freak storm struck their archaeological site in the Andes.
Few details are available. Miss Francesca Fitzgerald has reported that
nearly two dozen people are feared dead after the collapse of an ancient
palace wall. Miss Fitzgerald, who was working with her father, was not
at the site at the time of the accident.
She declined to announce when services for Dr. Fitzgerald and his wife
would be held.
The Fitzgeralds are survived by their two daughters. Dr. Fitzgerald is
also survived by his brother, William Fitzgerald, a professor of history
at Jones College.

Fran to teach at Jones
Miss Francesca Fitzgerald will be joining the faculty at Jones College
this fall, her uncle announced. She is slated to teach archaeology, South
American history and Spanish.
Professor William Fitzgerald, the chair of the history department, has
said he is delighted his niece will be returning to Arkham.
This makes three Fitzgeralds at Arkham: Miss Emmanuela Fitzgerald is a
sophomore at Jones.
From the Arkham Gazette-Journal, June 4, 1924.
No wedding for Fran!
Miss Francesca Fitzgerald and Don Miguel Rodriquez de la Cruz have cancelled
their engagement, this reporter has learned. Miss Fitzgerald, when asked,
said that she did not wish to comment on the situation, save that she
"wishes him the very best for the future."
