Agent Marc MacGowan, Washington D.C.
Background
At twenty-six, with a degree in economics, MacGowan had a job as an advisor to his father, a beautiful girlfriend, a racing yacht -- and a five thousand dollar a week cocaine habit. After a weekend of partying, MacGowan and his girlfriend were racing back from the coast in his sportscar -- and everything changed when he lost control of the car. His girlfriend was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital; MacGowan himself suffered severe internal injuries. Though his father was able to keep him from being charged -- but just barely -- he ordered his son into rehab. An old girlfriend, Andrea Canfield, visited him in rehab and talked to him about PRIMUS. From the same background -- and with many of the same faults -- Canfield had turned her life around, divorcing her pedigreed husband and joining PRIMUS as an Intelligence agent. He remained there for months, all the while thinking about his life and the worthlessness of it all. Canfield had made something of herself as a VIPER specialist in New York -- and if she could do it, then so could he. If nothing else, he reasoned, it would prove to his father that he had turned his life around -- and that he should be granted access to his trust fund again. MacGowan's father's contacts got him a place in the PRIMUS Academy with no effort on the part of MacGowan himself (MacGowan's lackluster grades at Yale and his personal history would have disqualified him, had he not had powerful allies), but once he got there, everything changed: for the first time in his life, MacGowan had something to prove, and he had to work to prove it. He didn't skate through, and in a few subjects, he barely passed. But he did it himself, with no help from his father, from his checkbook or by seducing his instructors. And that, he discovered, made him just as high as cocaine ever did. When he didn't get an assignment on the coast, MacGowan almost gave up: life without sailing? Perish the thought! But after three years at the Phoenix Base (with frequent trips to San Diego, where his yacht was moored), he put in for reassignment and got it: this time, to San Francisco. Once there, he formed a fast friendship with the Silver Avenger and taught him to sail. When Johnson was promoted to Golden Avenger, he took MacGowan with him to Washington. MacGowan lives on his yacht and spends most weekends sailing the Chesapeake. He is considered to be on the fast track for promotion to assistant base commander, and what few people know is that the opportunities have come up and MacGowan has refused them: he enjoys being where he is. He and Agent Canfield, also an agent on the Golden Avenger's staff, have a friendly rivalry and often play good cop/bad cop with people who don't know them. Combat/Tactics: He lost his spleen in the accident that almost killed him, and he is very cautious in combat. He is generally able to talk himself out of most situations, but when he cannot, he prefers to attack at range. Personality Appearance Agent Marc MacGowan Val Characteristic
