site very much under construction!
Few eras lend themselves more to incredible roleplaying opportunities than the time covered by Regency HERO. The noble ideas begun by the French Revolution gave way to an imperial rule by Napoleon -- and over twenty years of war. In England, King George III battled fits of madness, during which his son ruled -- the Regency that gives the era its name. In the Americas, the United States struggled to keep together while colony after colony rebelled against their Spanish and Portugese masters.
Whether your campaign is set in the elegant drawing rooms of London, the American frontier, aboard a ship of the line, or on the front lines of the wars in Europe, this site will provide you with information about how to adapt the HERO System to suit your needs.
You'll also find a number of archetypes to adapt, from a beautiful heiress, brilliant bluestocking authoress, a dashing naval hero or a handsome rake -- and many more.
Combat
in Regency HERO is more than fisticuffs and Brown Besses -- it's social
combat, too. From the cut direct to battles of wits, we've got
guidelines for you. You'll also find rules for ship-to-ship combat for naval
combat and statistics for black powder weapons.
Roleplaying in the era is more than the setting and the characters -- it's
in creating the atmosphere. Take a look at our advice for running and playing
in period games. There's a list of interesting slang, suggestions for further
reading, and one of the best ways to get into character: food and drink!
While the period from 1793-1820 was hardly utopian -- millions lost their lives in wars, famines and revolutions, and millions more lived in abject poverty, just in every era -- this site isn't meant to provide a critical and exhaustive history. It is concerned primarily with providing information about intriguing roleplaying settings.
