PRIMUS Agents: San Francisco: the Base
The San Francisco PRIMUS Base is a four story building located in the Presidio, on the site of the Cavalry Stables. The base's brick, redwood and glass design won several architectural awards and is fast becoming a San Francisco landmark; the brick matches that used by the Army buildings. While much of the base is located underground for security reasons, there are few areas which are not somehow lit by skylights or by the large windows. The Silver Avenger and Base Commander have offices which command a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. Detailed Map of the Presidio (Large PDF File) The golf course is heavily used by off-duty (and occasionally, on-duty) PRIMUS Agents. Agents are often found eating their lunches outside on fine days, jogging before or after work, or playing touch-football and soccer. Many agents have volunteered their time in reseeding Crissy Field, as well. The Presidio Museum also contains the West Coast's only PRIMUS museum, curated by a retired Intelligence Agent. Many agents live in the nearby Richmond, Marina, Pacific Heights and Sunset neighborhoods. The Golden Avenger, when he is in San Francisco, has a house in the Sea Cliff neighborhood and hosts PRIMUS-famous barbecues. Several of the homes on "officer's row" are reserved for visiting PRIMUS dignitaries. Agent Life The base houses four Iron Guard Units, seven five-person assault agent teams and two dozen intelligence agents, in addition to the Silver Avenger's staff, which is composed of a mixture of ten Intelligence and Assault Agents. There are several squads of Assault and Iron Guard units ready to scramble at any moment during the day or night, though Intelligence Agents generally keep regular business hours. Assault Agents and Iron Guard do not work shifts; they are "on" for three days straight, then off for four. Every three weeks, the team will work four days straight. Assault Agents and Iron Guard earn extra "hazardous duty" pay, and also rotate through other duties to prevent burnout: this includes attachment to Intelligence operations and public relations duties.
